Well...here goes! My first entry...yeah...I got nothin'!!!
How can I have writers block when I haven't begun to write? I have a boat load of ideas floating around the bowl of my brain but I just can't decide. Let's check out the headlines!
Naah...just another high school coach busted for child seduction. SSDD! Wait...hmmm...a female coach! That's something a little different! Oh snap, it gets better...a female coach and a female student!! I can work with this! Ok, give me a second, my mind is going a thousand miles an hour!! Ok, I'm ready, here goes...
I'm sure you're expecting the stereotypical "Where were these women when I was in school?" slant and I have to admit it's hard to resist but 2 other angles come to mind from this story.
First off...what kind of grown person could actually consider a relationship with a teen-aged boy/girl? I'm not one to be stuck in the past but recently I have had reason to reflect on my relationships with the opposite sex during my teen years. I can say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I would not have wanted to endure that period of my life any longer than necessary. Teenagers are insane!! Hopped up on hormones, insecure, fickle, and needy...what is attractive about that? Is the dating scene that bad? I'll quote the esteemed Bill Cosby..."Come on people!!"
My second thought on the subject involves my initial response to seeing the story. Ah, it's just another adult school employee messing around with a 17 year old. I am living proof of the numbing of humanity and it kinda bums me out. I catch myself saying 'It's just another (insert ponzi scheme, bailout, homicide, pedophile, etc... here) story." Is it really technology bringing all the bad news to our attention in a more efficient manner or is it the truly unthinkable...the decay of humanity? Are we becoming less civilized? Ah...I got nothin'!!
Where were these women teachers when I was in school anyway?? I couldn't resist!
